Worek Kości

Worek Kości

„Worek Kości” – ‘Bag of Bones’ Apparently, Stephen King is obsessed with Us Poles. He willingly refers many times to various motifs of Polishness in his work. He would often refers to our “indestructibility”, humor and sharp language. I wonder how would He react if He came to Bagatela Street number 10 in Warsaw.

He could have pop in here by chance, led by history and reaserch – because it was in this house that Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński was born. There You have it – interesting, historic fact Therfore, led by the history of literature, Stephen King goes to the same address. And what? He stays speechless. Forever. And ends up as a sack of bones. How else could he react, seeing how much his talent inspires and, through that inspiration, creates something so special as this place. Exceptional in the scale of whole country.

“Bag of Bones”  is one of the author’s greatest work. The borderline of romance and horror, a work which has been printed into millions of copies and had many loud screenings.

Our “Worek Kości” opened in November in Warsaw, at the premises duped by the team from the unfortunate “Północ Południe” Restaurant. The address was unlucky, but something seems to me that due to some tricks on the border of black magic it was disenchanted, because it is packed there – Full sack. Full of people and a full of culture.

Worek Kosci”  is not only a bar and a meeting place, but above all it is a cultural mecca with a full calendar of many different events to choose from. The calendar ‘bursts at the seams’. They play jazz here, sung poetry, read books, conduct lectures, dance. Everyone will find something for themself. The best part is that the entry is free. Nice touch.

In addition to feeding  the soul, we will find here something for the body as well.In the bar, we will find fantastic cocktails, craft beers, punch, mulled wine and delicious coffee. We also will not die of hunger – the snack menu includes home-made cakes, tarts, pancakes and salads. The atmosphere here is very friendly. You can see that this is a place created by people for people.

The elements of ubiquitous skulls are terribly cool. There are over 200 of them here. Some are souvenirs or presents from regulars. Such eternal halloween. Interestingly, the elements of the skulls and bones in this environment do not bring to mind death and decomposition, on the contrary – they are joyful and colorful – such as during the ‘dia de los Muertos’ in Mexico.

In “Worek Kości” we can disappear during the day, sit in a comfortable armchair, be completely absorbed with one of several dozen books available on the spot. The same edition of “Bag of Bones” by Stephen King is available here in 200 copies. The rest does not stick out.

We will find here the latest releases of King and other masters of horror, many thrillers and classic literature. All to buy on site. Horror fans and simply all books fans finally have their own place. The concept is brilliant. Something different for everyone with the arts and  high culture in the background.

You can come here in the day, you can come at night. It is worth to look up what kind of event will happen here that day, choose something for yourself from the reading shelf, or just order something extra from the bartender. You will not be disappointed. For example, we are going to the Boylesque show – yes – the male Burlesque! They do it over here.

Well, we told You  that everyone will find something for themselves. I wonder what Stephen King would choose….. See you in “Worek Kosci”.
